He could not give us an answer and began to search for available rooms. We made our way to the front desk to try to address the situation and asked the associate why we were lied to about the other rooms and weren’t informed of the issue at check-in, so we could have cancelled our reservation and looked to stay elsewhere. I then hung up the phone and found that we had been lied to by Deanna and there were other rooms available on our Hilton Honors app. I also asked about my mother’s room and was told her room was not reported as being one of the affected ones. Not to mention that it was completely disrespectful to think that’d be a comparable service for the room we paid for. My mother, whose mother we were traveling to lay to rest, has recently had surgery and has a weak immune system- being in a public space for an extended period of time could make her susceptible to an infection or cause her to become sick. I explained to her that we are aware that the points hold a lot of value and that we do not need to be made aware of such, that we still do not have a solution for the present situation, and that we do not want to be in the lounge trying to rest after a long drive or in a public space for extended periods of time.

She didn’t know, went to check, and returned to tell me there weren’t any rooms available and asked me if I knew that 30,000 points equals about a free night stay, that there was nothing else that could be done, and we could watch television in the lounge. I expressed to Deanna that we were looking to rest in our rooms and inquired to see if there was another room available that we could be moved to. I asked why we were not notified of this issue in advance or at check-in and was not given a response and told that we would be given 30,000 points for the issue within 24-48 hours. I called the front desk to inform them of the issue to find that they were aware of the situation and was told by Deanna that there was a bad bout of lightening in the area on Monday (I checked in on Friday) and that it impacted several televisions in the hotel and that my room was one of them.

We begin to settle and try to watch tv to find that the television does not work. We all made reservations and room selections on the same floor and at the same hotel. After traveling more than five hours to the location, my fiancé and I arrive first at the hotel to check-in, receive our keys, and made our way to our room to relax and await the arrival of the rest of our family. My family and I made three reservations to stay at this property on our journey to lay my beloved Nanny to rest. In the lobby there is a pool table, nook areas for privacy while talking on the phone and purchasable snacks galore! This hotel is new and is in spotless condition! The breakfast is different with choices you don’t find at standard fare hotels like salted caramel syrup and whipped cream for your waffle boats. What I love most are the blackout shades that let no light in, and the vinyl,plank floors. The bathroom is spacious as is the shower. Their toiletries come in large squeeze bottles attached to the walls. For example, there is no chest of drawers or closet, but there is a curved pipe for hanging clothes.
Tru is a minimalist’s dream, each space in their smallish rooms dedicated to its purpose. The towels were new, as is the hotel, and we enjoyed their plush thickness. Our room, as requested, was in a quiet area of the hotel, and we had a good night’s rest on the comfortable beds.
